PROFESSIONAL SYNOPSIS

I have over 22 years of leadership at the interface of biotechnology, agriculture, and pharma. My research basically pertains to plant-microbe interactions occurring in nature which are mediated through a variety of signal molecules playing a critical role in communication. I am involved in harnessing these interactions as well as exploration of the novel biomolecules involved which can be effectively used in improving agricultural productivity as well as in healthcare as medicines.  This is actually achieved by the development of different screening platforms for biological activities which can be clearly demarcated as phytotoxic assays; physiological assays to see abiotic /biotic stresses in plant systems and anti-microbial, anti-oxidant, anti-cancer, or finding novel molecules that interfere in the mechanism of development of diseases such as Alzheimer's Dementia (AD), Parkinson's disease (PD), Obesity, Anti-gout/arthritic and type II Diabetes. More recently I have moved into the area of bioinformatics, machine learning to probe and predict answers in the area of food security and medicine.

Looking into financials of the centre to be self-sustaining entity, providing technical, infrastructural support to students, researchers (students as well as faculty), within the institute and in the region, submission of grant applications (bilateral/National/ multinational)
